THE RAIN

One should remember
Where the rain starts beating him or her from
Life is a roller coaster it takes us from here
To that place so life flows some high
The rain

Some times on the mountain
Other times right there deep in the valley
It takes us way up high we are at the peak
Will start descending low at our lowest state in life
We feel the rain

When the rain of life starts following
Little do we know something has happen before
From the past it came like an hunting shadow
Like a thief in the night it stales our sleep
The rain

A fierce wind is blowing
Here the sound coming from far East
It transcends right from there and filled the whole place
As the rain descend down in every droplet of the rain
Some will get wet others will get soak by the rain

But one shouldn’t forget from whence
The rain starts beating one from
It can be an activity done in the past
While we forget long ago that the same deeds
Will come back hunting us beating us like the rain

That fail and the whole city
Got the feeling that rain feel
It fails from dusk to dawn
Our street feels to the brim
Flooded the drainage system gushing out

Life is just like the rain
Our action is like the shadow from the past
Following us all around
Our deeds will justify our action
Either like an hunting shadow or a happy memory

IT TAKES COURAGE!

Your uniqueness is what separate
You from the pack but you have
Entertain fear for too long it takes courage to do that
Your life line is the joy that comes in the morning
It takes courage to do all that

You got to have the courage
But wait oh do you have the courage
The chase your dream in becoming
The total you in all areas of your life
It takes courage to follow our heart

To act outwardly to what you see inwardly
Do you have the courage?
Or will you die a dreamer
On the verged or on the edge of life
In the line of duty it takes courage to do that

It takes courage to be successful
It is far easier not to be successful
Misery will always have company
Success breeds contempt
If you don’t want to make waves be mediocre

Be normal and fit in to what society wants you to be
And if you’re more concern about people
Then God will neutralize everything he puts within you
Just fit in like everyone else dress like them, act like them
And walk like them then go where they go

It takes courage to be different
And to go where you never gone before
It takes courage to get you outside the box
It takes courage to win life’s battle
The world don’t talk about people who don’t win

Do you have the courage to stand there
While the storms keeps ranges and the people get to talk
And you stand not to turn around because you come thus far
Do you have the courage?

It takes courage to be exceptional
It takes courage to be wise
It takes courage to be rich
It takes courage to be entertainer
It takes courage to be knowledgeable
Because the moment you realize this all the better for you
It takes courage to be different in this TV reality world we live in today

It takes courage to say
After all have been through
And all my ancestors have been through
I don’t come to fit in to the long old status quo
It takes courage to go after my dream in life

ONE OUT OF TEN

Graham, Templeton and Clifford
In Christian life it’s not how you start that matters
It’s how you finish
One out of ten

Billy Graham came storming out of seemingly nowhere
To fill auditorium across America
Speaking to as many as thirty thousand people a night
Graham was hired as the first full time evangelist
For Youth for Christ and his reputation is a uniquely gifted
Preacher roared across America like a prairie fire
The rest of course is history

You’ve heard of Billy Graham
But what about Chuck Templeton
Or Bron Clifford, have you ever heard of them?
Billy Graham wasn’t only young preacher in 1945
Chuck Templeton and Bron Clifford were accomplishing
The same thing and more all three young men were in their midtwenties

One seminary president after hearing Chuck Templeton preach
One evening to an audience of thousand called him
The most gifted and talented young man in America today for preaching
Templeton and Graham were friends both ministered for Youth for Christ
Both were extraordinary preachers yet in those early years
Most observers would probably have put their money on Templeton

Bron Clifford was yet another gifted twenty five year old fireball
In 1945 many believe Clifford the most gifted and powerful preacher
The church had seen in centuries…Graham, Templeton and Clifford
All three came shooting out of the starting blocks like rockets
You’ve heard of Billy Graham so how come you’ve never heard
Of Chuck Templeton or Bron Clifford? Especially when they came out in ‘45

Just five years later
Templeton left the ministry to pursue a career
As a radio and television commentator and news paper columnist
He had decided he was no longer a believer in Christ
In the orthodox sense of the term

What about Clifford? By 1954 Clifford has lost
His family his ministry and his health…and then his life
Alcohol and financial irresponsibility had done him in
He wound up leaving his wife and their two Down’s syndrome children
At just thirty five years of age, this once great preacher died from
Cirrhosis of the liver in a run-down motel on the edge of Amarillo
His last job was selling used cars in the panhandle of Texas
He died as John Haggai put it “unwept, unhonored and unsung”

In 1945 three young men with extraordinary gifts
Were preaching the gospel to multiplied thousands
Across this nation within ten years only one of them was still on track for Christ
In Christian life it’s not how you start that matters it’s how you finish
One out of ten

For those of us in the ministry or about to go into ministry
Stay true to Jesus make sure that you keep your heart close to Jesus everyday
It’s a long way from here to where you’re going to
And satan in no hurry to get you over the years is been observe
That just one out of ten who start out in full time service for the Lord
At twenty one or sixty five

They’re shot down morally
They’re shot down with discouragement
They’re shot down with liberal theology
They get obsessed with making money
But for one reason or another nine out of ten fall out
In Christian life it’s not how you start that matters
It’s how you finish

PREVENTION OF CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AND ABUSE

Author: IDRIS OTUN
While parent may have the biggest influence on a child’s life when it comes to healthy sexual development education and reducing the risk of sexual abuse, many adults (especially teachers) could also play significant roles. We all have the potential to be an important safety net for kids who are at high risk for sexual abuse at home.

Child sexual exploitation can cause serious damage to cognitive, social, and emotional development of a child. Therefore, All adults and adolescents need to know that child sexual abuse is a crime that

« often causes severe damage to children,
« Could cause a life-long stigma and emotional imbalances in a child
« Children can never consent to sexual activity.

A very common misconception about sexual abuse is that strangers pose the most danger to children. But research has proven that the majority of sexual abuse of children is committed by someone the child knows. Surprisingly, a sexual abuse can occur within the family (by a parent, step-parent, guardian, older sibling, or relative) or outside the family (often by a person well known by the child and family, such as a teacher or clergyman). Most research shows that no more than 10-30% of child sexual exploitation offenders were strangers.

Child sexual abuse is devastating and has a potential life-long negative impact on child development. Short-term consequences may include:

« difficulty focusing at school leading to lower academic performance,
« increased need for special services, and difficulty with socializing.

Long-term consequences may include:
« violence,
« substance abuse,
« mental health disorders.

From the aforementioned, It is obvious that a child sexual abuse and exploitation has no positive effect but negative consequences listed above.

How can parents prevent these dirty and devastating phenomenon from happening?

ü Be open with your Children: This is crucial step to preventing child sexual abuse. It is important that children learn about how all the parts of their body function and the proper names for their body parts. Make your child understand the difference between “privacy” and “secrecy.” Because sexual abuse thrives on silence, make sure your children know that they can talk to you about anything and you won’t judge or be mad at them. It is important to talk to your teen about a variety of dating topics, such as your personal values, expectations, and peer pressure. Be open with your teen about everything.

ü Teach your Child 'body boundaries': Tell your child that their private parts are called private because they are not for everyone to see. Explain that mommy and daddy can see them naked, but people outside of the home should only see them without their clothes on. Explain how their doctor can see them without their clothes only because mommy and daddy are there with them and the doctor is checking their body.

ü Recognise the warning signs of child abuse: It’s important for parents to know their children very well. A good parent should be able to distinguish when his/her child is moody and happy. recognizing the warning signs of child sexual abuse will help to respond and intervene as quickly as possible. Although children who have experienced sexual abuse may be too frightened to tell anyone, there are physical and behavioral signs that may be seen. Parent should be sensitive enough.

ü Be A Good Example: For children, parents are role models. They adopt everything they’ve learned from their parents. Therefore, as a parent, it is your duty to set a good example at home and make your children adopt the best habits from you. Be a good example for them. Make sure you do not do anything reckless in front of them because you certainly wouldn’t want your child to learn that from you

ü Supervise your child's extracurricular activities: Being as involved as possible in your child's life is the best way to guard against child molesters. Abusers will look for a child who is vulnerable and who isn't getting a lot of attention from his or her parents or will convince parents they are of no danger to their child. Show up at games, practices and rehearsals,

ü Remember: that kids around 12, should already have gotten sex education, by their parents and told what everything means/is called. This will prevent a teacher/friend who is a child molester from taking the lead and teaching whole other aspects. Make sure your child already knows everything it needs to know, before it gets taught very different meanings of words or gets told that kissing/licking the teachers cheek is totally fine.

ü PLEASE NOTE: children are innocent and unlikely to lie about sexual abuse. If your child tells you someone is trying to mess with him or her.... Please believe the child and respond appropriately.

COMMON TYPES OF MOLESTATION
· Defilement
· Rape
· Fingering
· Making a child watch pornography
· Exposing the genital to kids
· Indecent touching
· Fondling and so on

Teach your child The *SRR* action.
Ø S - Shout/scream
Ø R - Run
Ø R - Report

...END NOTE
BE THERE FOR THEM! START SEX EDUCATION EARLY! THEY ARE SMARTER THAN YOU THINK! YOUR TEENS HAVE GROWN THAN YOU IMAGINED!

AM GRATEFUL LORD: BULIE BULIE

From ages past you’ve been there
When life becomes so dim
And hope has gone missing
From the street called hope
And life begins to fade away in the sun of the morning

Eze di eze look what you done for me
I don’t look like my past because of your grace
Even when I choose to go astray
Your grace still chases after me
I am nothing without your grace

Look at what where you’ve brought me thus far
Look around you see what your grace has brought me
Look around my wrongs never count
Look from ages past much water has gone
Through under the bridges of life

Onyin oluebube
From ages you never change
When I call on you
You come to my rescue
Chioma mu Eze ndi eze my hands of worship are rise up high

The Hands that form the world
Same Hands form me in my mother’s womb
Take care of me in the womb and ushers me into this world
Am bowing down before please Lord accept the praise I bring to You
Am grateful Lord

I will lift You up
Look what you done to me
See how you change my life
My past is gone no longer count
See His grace in me just look around me

Look what you done to me

US VS THEM

They take away everything
Strip us all away what we’ve got
As nothing is left all gone
Gone with the wind and time
Us Vs Them

We walk through the storms
We breathe through our mouth
When our nostril is block with the pollution
Of the corruption in the land
Where selected few get by with the state resources

Everyone is apportioning blame to this and that
Where they all believe that some don’t matter
Where some are more equal to the other parties
When the richness of this great land are held at ransom
Us vs them

The rich are getting richer
The one that seat on the seat of power lavishing it all out
The masses that are at the corridor of power
Are the ones feeling the brunt of insubordination
Us vs them

The heat is getting heater by the day
Everyone is losing their mind
Everyone is going crazy
We’re living in a crazy world
Us vs them

Our taxes are misuse
Our land is accused
Where the blood of the innocent citizens
Has pollute the richness and fertile soil of the land we have
There is a mass poverty in the land

Our health sector is deprecating
As infant mortality rate is raising high every seconds
Those ones that needs to prosecute the money launderers
Are now chasing the ones they ought not to be chasing
Stealing on industrial scales with pen and paper

No one is raising questions
No one wants to fan the flame of questioning
As they feel no accountable to anyone
Acting as a dim god before the ones who gave them the mandate
Us vs them

GUTS

Can you walk in the midst of the battle
Can you go the mile to catch air
Can you go on a date with a devil and return
Can you walk in the fierceness of storm and still stand
The Guts

You have to be awake all night
In conquest with the fearless winds of time
You must run to overtake life problems
Faster than the flash of thunder
That passes through the walk way

Can you have a faceoff with your shadow
In a critical moment when you are at a cross road
In a moment where everything erupt right in your eyes
You sigh but your confidence embark on a French leaf
The guts

There comes a time you have to walk into the ring
Have a life fought fight with yourself
Dealing with yourself and putting it in the place it belongs
Having the gut to go through the process
Coming out strong on the other side…The Guts

Life will be serving you a wrong
As you played gone to several market
And the card in your hands are getting finished
You’ve gone to general market several pick two’s
Boom it all blowed up in your eyes
…The Guts dropped courage gone with the wind

You strive, struggled and chess is not ranking
As the queen and bishop is taking off the field of play
Subtly it gone with the winds
Everything falling apart right in your eyes
The guts

From and here it keeps re-sounding
Reechoing so loud vibrating
This is the moment to be strong
And get your guards on…the guts
Go into the ring of life and have the fight with life
And see yourself that you got the guts to scale through it all

FORGOTTEN LAND

We cannot just seat
On this space called the pity table
Seated around this pig hole
Talking for long hours as longer
Everyone got so much to talk

Exploring their prose
Of great intellects
Exhuming their arsenal of vocabulary
On the age long matter without concrete ends
On a subject matter a forgotten land

There is so much to do
In this great nation we claim will belong to
Been referred to as the giant of Africa
Where we eminent from
Forgotten land

Is high time we rise and speak for ourselves
No longer the one we bear the touch of leadership
That we all know to be called the government
Ruled by selected few in dedicating the pace for us all
Forgotten land

It all starts with honesty, peace, justice and truth
Enough of hiding in the four walls
With the age long slogan ‘e go better’ for how long will it
But to start giving sacrifice to the nation this great nation
Not what government can do for us all but our own self

But what we can do for us
Because is like a book that left the shelf long ago
A land filled with milk and honey now
Now so dried and drain of her resources
Is not the time to fan the air of hate speech

Castigating that person and pointing accusing fingers
In that house built well with the nations treasury
So hard to be penetrated into like a rock which is so hard
But what we can do for self in creating that nation we seek
Not a forgotten land ‘cos our founding father’s never sees it like that

They left it in the care of our mother
That’s while is referred today as motherland
Where there offspring’s were birthed, nurtured to greatness
Not a forgotten land just as it has been turned to today
By some set of select few drunk by power and selfishness

THE WAR DANCE

The chants from far distant land
As the wind carries echoing
From all the four corners of the city
As the ones who are fit for battle get prepared
The war dance

Is never for the weak in heart
When the heat of the wars gots tightens
It takes the brave in heart to stand the heat of the war
Only those who left home for war shall return and face
The war dance

So go with your guards on
Guard it with all carefulness
Make sure you don’t leave courage at home
Go in this thy might make sure you arrive strong
The war dance

The bridge burnt behind us
The road not taken is left desolate
The strings are broken off from the violin
The keys are take off only victory will bring them all back
The war dance

Is sign for life
Is either victory or death
Is either conquest or defeat
Is either going back nor forward
The war dance

Only those who swim to victory
Can have a story to tell about the event that ensue
Before and after the war
You must choose your weapon wisely in
The war dance

HAVE YOU MENDED YOUR NETS?

Some day history will come calling
Some day you won’t be able to lift that body
Someday what looks appealing wont anymore?
Someday everything will fade and pass away
Have you mended your nets?

Have you counted the cost?
If your soul should be lost
Though you gain the whole world for your own
Even now it may be that the line you have crossed
Have you mended your nets?

Are living or you are existing
Living without the hope of eternity
As you’ve long ago shut God out of your life
And you failed to remember a life without God is not life
Have you mended your nets?

Are you living right?
Should you die tonight?
Is it well with your soul?
Tomorrow may mean goodbye remember
Have you mended the nets?

Your life is like a vapour
And it we fade out any moment
At the blink of an eye
It we vanish away like a candle in the wind
Have you mended the nets?

It we happen very fast
In the twinkling of an eye
We shall be changed from mortality to immortality
What fate will be yours when this happens?
Have you mended your nets?
