TAKE YIELD TO YOURSELF

Before you lead other people
Lead yourself
Before you talk to other people
Take to yourself
Before you correct other people
Correct yourself

Before you let people respect you
Respect yourself
Before you feel love by others
First love yourself enough to give out love
Before you teach other humility
You first be humble humility starts with you

Before you teach others
First you be enough to be teachable
Before you teach others the act of service
You become a servant to them first
Take yield to yourself

Practice what you preach
Be the principles you teach out
Be real in all sense don’t fake anything at all
A double standard being will eventually fall for everything
Take yield to yourself

Enough to be realistic enough to be you
Been the real of yourself pays in all ways
Be in it in your attitude nor character better still dealings
Becoming the one you want to see in others
Take yield to yourself

Before you lead be the leader
You desire to see leading you
Don’t be too full and drunk with power
Be exemplary in all sense not just in part
Take yield to yourself and contain it

WHEN NATURE CALLS

Be rest assured to held the call
As some calls will matter
Both now and the future
We must not allow the frivolities
Of now to whisk us away
From the path of greatness
When nature calls

You’ve labored for so long
Been on one pursuit till its works out
You keep at it come hell hot water
You brace the odds and waited on it
When nature calls

Be ready to held the call
Because you don’t know
When it we come calling again
A miss call from nature you don’t know
When nature calls again

So as each comes
Listen to yourself
Look beyond the opinion of society
Leap while others are afraid to crawl
When nature calls

Some are lucky in life
While others are unlucky in life
Luck in sense in having
More than a call from nature
While some is just one call
That will make sense
And change it all when nature calls

I adjure you to get ready
Make all things ready for opportunities
Be open for opportunities place yourself well
In strategic position for opportunities
When nature calls

Yield the call
Be on your guard always
That you don’t miss it
Charge your battery well enough
When nature calls

FIGHTING THE FEAR OF CHANGE: IBM

Change-osis or the fear of change
Is natural at times
Change is often risky
It requires that we leave
The familiar and strike
Out into the unknown
And that create fear

Change-osis
Keep us stagnant and complacent
Even though we know change
May be good for us
We tell people we’re content

Better the devil you know
Than the devil you don’t know
The old saying goes
Fighting the fear of change
The IBM staff story

IBM had always had
A policy of lifetime employment
If you were loyal to the company
The company was loyal to you
But eventually IBM had to adjust
A new business climate
And shrinking market share

The company announced
That for the first time in history
There would be layoffs
An awful lot of change resisters
And people with change-osis
Were roaming the halls of IBM back then

People who never had considered
The possibility of a job with another company
Had to accept new uncertain reality
For the first time they were going
To have a search for a job outside of IBM

Many of these folks
Had never written a resume
And had no idea how to describe
What they did at IBM in outsider’s term
Fighting the fear of change: IBM
The market place changes
Job change sometimes job even go away
What do you do then? Like the mice
You can stand in the middle
Of the maze and yell
Who moved my cheese?
Or you can adapt to the change
And get to work

DON’T LET YOURSELF STAGNATE

Think about water in a backyard pond
When you first put water in a pond
It’s healthy and vibrant
It’ll support fish and plant life

But if you keep the same old water
In the pond week after week
Pretty soon it gets stagnant
The fish and plant life in the pond
Become poisoned
With waste and eventually die

For the pond to support life
You have to recirculate the water
Or better yet add new water frequently
When you do that the fish and plants
Will thrive for a long time

Like a pond each of us has a certain
Amount of mental, emotional and physical water
Meaning our thoughts, our actions
Our history and so on at any given time
That water does a pretty good job

Of supporting our lives at their current levels
But unless we add fresh water all the time
In the form of new experiences
New ways of thinking, new beliefs and new ideas
Then we too become stagnant

The last time you were faced
With a new idea or a different way
Of looking at something
How difficult did you find it to
Open up to opportunities?
All too often we get stuck in our prejudices
And old ideas because we feel they’re right

Closing yourself to opportunities
Keeps you stagnant and in today’s
Accelerated world of life and business
Stagnant means never growing or learning
As we were born to do

ACCOUNTABILITY SAYS ICARE

If you are leading people
Accountability starts with you
You have to be the one who sets
The bar by been accountable to yourself
And then by holding others
To a high standard accountability

But leaders create accountability in two ways
Through fear or through connection
I think we’ve seen all or worked for leaders
Who tried to drive people to do their
Jobs by threatening them

That kind of leadership by intimidation
Never works in the long run
But if the people you’re leading feel
You truly care about them
That you are committed to helping them

Do a great job while holding them
To the same high standards
You set for yourself
Then you’ll find that your team
Will walk through walls and achieve
The seemingly impossible
Accountability says icare

They’ll be more likely
To hold themselves accountable rather
Than expect you to do it for them
As long as they feel
You’re committed to them
They’ll be committed to you
Accountability says icare

However as a leader you
Shouldn’t assume you have your team’s
Commitment right from the start
Loyalty is built over time
It is not overnight process or
A microwave approach it happen instantly
Accountability says icare

Leaders go first…
Leaders are accountable
Above all leaders are committed to helping
Those they led to win
To succeed you must always
Be accountable for your team

MEASURING YOUR ACCOUNTABILITY AT WORK

One of the most common tools
In business for promoting accountability
Is the performance appraisal
Most people approach
Their performance appraisals
With some excitement and some fear

After all nobody likes
The feeling of being judged
But a great performance appraisal
Is really nothing but an
Accountability scorecard for your employer

As well as for you measuring
Your accountability at work
Performance appraisals help create
Commitment and accountability
For employees and managers
When they’re done well

They can be a way
Of connecting something
To be anticipated rather than dreaded
When we measure not only by numbers
But also by the heart we get increased

Commitment to accountability
That takes result to the next level
Measuring your accountability at work

MAKE SURE YOU’RE ASKING THE RIGHT RESULTS

It’s a great to hold yourself
And other people accountable
But you’d better be sure you’re holding
Them accountable for the right results
And to the right standards

Otherwise, you’ll see commitment
Dwindle and die
There’s a better way to achieve results
And that’s to make sure that you’re accountable
For will produce the result you want

One of the keys to achieving
The kind of accountability
That produce world class result
Is the willingness on both sides
Employee and employer to look with a fresh
And unbiased eye at
How those results are best achieved

That may mean changes in accountabilities
Strategies benchmarks and producers
But how much more will be achieved
When all participants are confident
That the actions they’re taking
Are going to produce
The world class results they desire

Companies need to remember
That while results are important
The people who get whose results
Are the company’s biggest resource
Therefore companies need to be accountable

To their people so their people
Will be accountable for the result
Smart companies today are people centric
They put their people first
Because they know that
Committed and connected people
Will be accountable for world-class results

ACCOUNTBAILITY AS MOTIVATION

Being held accountable
For our results is one
Of the surest paths
For growth in this world
We may not like deadlines,
Sales quotas or performance reviews

But they certainly
Are a great motivator
For getting us up off
Our butts at times
Imagine an athlete

Who wants to be a world class runner
He’s out there every day
Running his heart out
Doing his best and getting
Better all the time

But unless...
He uses a stopwatch
To time himself how’s he going
To know whether he’s running faster
Or slower over the same distance

If he doesn’t race
Against other athletes
How will he know
Whether he’s doing well
Compared with people

Who are at the top of their game?
If your goal is to be world class
Then being accountable to achieve
Certain result is the only way to get there
Accountability as motivation

We live in a result oriented world
With increasing pressure on the bottom line
That’s why accountability is so critical
In business as well as in life
Accountability

Without accountability to standards
Performance and measurements
Individuals ultimately fall into complacency
What I call a rut and only difference
Between a rut and a grave is the dimensions

Well been accountable
Means that you must not
Only know the rules
But also play by them
You can’t get an exemption

Because you’re a nice guy
Nor can you follow
Only the rules you like and agree with
Once the rules are defined
You must be accountable
For following them
To the best of your ability

ACCOUNTABILITY

Accountability means
Taking a stand and doing whatever
Its takes to honour your commitment
You will struggle to be accountable to others
If you aren’t accountable to yourself
Accountability

If you’re going to sleep in on you
You will more than likely sleep in on others
If you aren’t doing what you need to
Take care of your personal responsibilities
How much discipline will you have
To fulfill your responsibilities to others?

Score your accountability to yourself
Make the necessary changes for growth
And you will naturally score higher
In your accountability to others
Accountability

Whether it is your job, your team
Your friends or your family
When you are committed to winning together
You will be accountable for doing whatever
It takes to make that happen

You won’t leave when things get tough
Instead you will work through the hard times
Do you need to make some personal changes
So your family or team can win?
Accountability

If you are committed
You will be accountable
For making those changes
Do you need to grow your skills
To reach your company goals?
Then you will be accountable
For taking course acquiring
The necessary skills

QUESTIONS ON ACCOUNTABILITY

To move forward as an individual
You must measure your performance
Here are the few questions to guide
In doing that so welcome to the moment
Your accountability questions

Are you accountable to yourself?
Are you honest with yourself
Or have you fooled yourself
Into thinking that you’re okay
When you’re not? Have you lowered
Your personal standards of excellence?
Question on accountability

You may know, for example that to be healthy
You need to get up early and work out
Are you up at five o’clock
Or are you hitting the snooze button
When the alarm goes off each morning?

Maybe you need to eat
More nutritious meals
And less junk food
What’s your score in that area?
How many fast food wrappers
Would we find in your car?
You may feel that you
Need to read inspirational
Or educational book each month

Have you done it?
You want to read that book
But it’s so much easier to sit on
The coach with the remote in your hand
There are things you need to do
To take care of yourself
And to accomplish your goals
Are you doing them?

Score what you did yesterday
Measuring internally and externally
How accountable are you to yourself
Are you taking the necessary action
To accomplish your goals? If not
What changes do you need to make now
To improve for tomorrow?
