What has gotten to our norms
Of taking cane out of the four
Walls of the classroom in cannot
Impact knowledge under a fearful environment
Spanking or flogging a child.

All because of the child
Not able to comply to what is being taught
At that moment in the classroom
Of what end will what is being taught
Gets into the brain talkless of applying it.

To real life outside the wall of learning
There has been video circulate
The whole online space
Of an educator beating a pupil
Because of the number six during numeracy class.

To what ends is that in education
Fine spear the road and spoil the child
But to what end it is I saw the video
At the sight of watching I develop
Goosebumps it ran through my spines.

NB: With focus of a teacher beaten a pupil today at a school in Ikorodu.

A WORD FOR THE TERM

As the new academic calendar begins come September 4
As pupils get ready to return back to classroom
As teacher buckled up to take on teaching lessons
As we all get ready to get back to the class
So much is expected from both pupils, teachers and management.

…For our pupils
Now is the best time to seat back and take review
Of the last academic session that just ends months back
How is it? Did you achieve all your goals in all subjects in the last term?
How about it, can you say you did well.

…For teachers
How was your performance?
In discharging your duties to these ones
Remember the pupils are kept in your care
Of which you will give account at the close of day.

For Management
How far do you go to create?
A conducive atmosphere for learning and working condition
Did you say you perform up to the best in the last term?
How about that your responsibility towards your staffs and pupils
This term pupils, teachers and management of schools.

Make sure you do your best in all ramifications
Will all should never look back to the last term success
Because if you do you cannot achieve something worth while

You must constantly be open

See your student as a partner
And encourage such a student
