Awaken of Independent

Long, long years ago in a city
Called Ibadan the meeting was held

That meeting will determine the fate of a nation

The meeting changes the course and history
Of that particular nation.

Awaken of an independent

Is a new day filled with joy and happiness?

Expectations are high with the panting of the heart

A day when the colonial master left us

To channel the course of our nation
The awaken of an independent.

Years have come and gone
And yet have things change or what
How is it today? Where are we today?
Have things change since then?
Or just chasing shadow? An empty shadow within
What have we done to our nation!

Awake the dawn of a new independent
Has just began arise from thy sleep
Of Nigeria the pride of Africa motherland
We’ve been in the state for long
Now a change must be made
Cause we are the future generation we can’t
Avoid watching our nation decline.

We must arise
We need some one to lead
We’ve been looking for a song to sing
Search for a leader to lead
Then I discover that am the one
If you’re out there lets join our hands
And fix a new Nigeria
Awaken her to an independent.

Long lives Nigeria!
Long lives democracy!!
Long live the giant of Africa!!!
