“Someone’s opinion of you does
not have to become your reality.” Leroy Washington.
He was not given any opportunity to try
The statement was very conclusive: “You
Cannot play the piano, and God knows
You cannot sing. You batter learn how to
Weave chair so you can support yourself.”
This becomes heart breaking, when we consider
The fact that these words were spoken to a six
Year old boy by his teacher from whom he
Expected encouragement. His dreams were
Temporarily shattered.
His entire world had come to a temporary end
At the utterance of that statement. But a couple
Of years later, this poor, little six-year old boy
Became a mega star in the international music scene
His name is Ray Charles.
Beethoven composed his greatest work
After becoming deaf.
Sir Walter Raleigh wrote the history
Of the world during a thirteen –year
Imprisonment.
Luther translate the bible while enduring confinement
In the Castle of Wartburg under a sentence of death
And during twenty years in exile.
Dante wrote the Divine Comedy.
John Bunyan wrote the Pilgrim’s Progress
In a Bedford jail.
Thomas Edison was told he was unteachable
Because of his inability to concentrate in class.
Albert Einstein was told that he would never
Amount to much in life.
Ben Carson was labeled as the dumbest boy
In his school because of his pathetic performance.
Les Brown was put in a special class and labeled
Mentally retarded
These people all of them were wrongly
Labeled based on their present realities
But the very truth about this life is that
Realities are not often what they first appear
To be, never judge someone base on the present
Remember the story of Jephthah in the Bible. –Judges 11:2
