NOT ALL ADVERSITY WILL PRODUCE DEFEAT

Some of the world’s greatest men and women
Have encountered disabilities and adversities
Yet they have overcome those obstacles
And used them as a stepping –stones
To their destiny

Cripple a woman
And you have Joni Eareckmson Tade
Lock a man in prison
And you have Joseph, Daniel or the apostle Paul
Not all adversity produce defeat

Bury him in the snows Valley Forge
And you have George Washington
Deafen a genius composer
And you have Ludwig van Beethoven
Listen friends is always darkest before the dawn

Have them born black in a society
Filled with racial discrimination
And you have Booker T. Washington
George Washington Carver and Martin Luther King Jr.
The darkest night has got a dawn inside hold on

Have him born of parents who survived
A Nazi concentration camp paralyze him
From the waist down when he is four
And you have Yitzhak Perlman
Disability is in ability too

The incomparable concert violinist
Call them a slow learner and write him off
As mentally disabled and you have Albert Einstein
Christ did not come to do away with suffering
He did not come to explain difficulty
He came to fill agony with His presence
