AMIDST HUNGER IN THE LAND

The land is green 
But got no food to feed
Our farms are desolated 
Because of fear of insurgency 
As road is a ghost town to travel on

In movement of farm produce
To the big cities and places 
Where they are much needed
As farmers pay tributaries just to farm
While the half of the harvested crops

Are share to the one who's 
Got no face and identity
And the land is green
Is it really green as it is said
Amidst hunger looming around 

There is hunger in the land
We must arise and make sure
The menace that wages war
Against shortage of food 
Is won by all means 

As we celebrate world food day today
Yet we cannot not cast deaf ear
To the plights of those who have nothing
Many are they which goes to bed 
On an empty stomach 

Few money chasing so high commodity 
As every is on an alarming scale
Both the the farmer, seller and buyer
Everyone is shouting hunger 
With the high cost of living

They are serious real hunger in the land
The bad road and poor road network
The high cost of farming seedlings 
And high cost of acquiring modern day
Farm equipment is overkilling 

Coupled with insurgence in the land
All these leads to high cost of farm produce 
Food are not accessible and cheap again
The hike in prices of food stuff out there 
In the market is so unbearable

For how long shall we dwell in this
When are we going to eat and feed well
To live like kings and queen in the land
Our children are crying and dying of hunger 
Our parent are so afraid of fending 

For the family they love dearly 
Let's fix this and make sure
No one goes to bed on an empty stomach
That everyone feed so well 
Word food day amidst hunger 

This is a clarion call to
Government, individual and NGO
Religious bodies and corporate organisations
There shouldn't be any seating 

On the fence now

We have a great problem in our hand
And all hands must be on deck to solve it
HAPPY WORLD FOOD DAY.
